My story doesn’t begin in a studio; it begins on the land. I grew up on a family farm along the Shropshire and Cheshire border, a childhood spent threading daisy chains and sketching in the fields. I was incredibly lucky to have a happy childhood with my two sisters, often pulling on our wellies to help out on the farm and collecting the stories and memories I still treasure today.
It was there, among the boxing hares and blowing dandelions, that I realised nature brought me such happiness. I was instinctively drawn to flowers, even then. From my mother, I learned the joy of the harvest: the simple pleasure of gathering wild mushrooms, the slow, steady magic of churning butter by hand, and the comforting scents from the farmhouse kitchen that we would so often share with our friends, neighbours and visitors.
From my father, I learned the responsibility of stewardship and caring for the land and all its inhabitants. I can still hear the birds singing in the morning light, see the foxes playing on the neighbour's grassy bank, and hear the steady echo of my father’s voice calling the cows for milking.
Those early lessons shaped not only my life but my business. At Jacqui O, we create luxurious florals for weddings and meaningful moments, always with a quiet devotion to the world that sustains us. It is a space where romantic, glamorous style and a deep respect for the earth are perfectly intertwined.
My grandparents provided the final threads of my philosophy. From my Grandada, I inherited a simple, enduring truth: “Waste not, want not.” And from my Grandma, I simply learned to love the flowers. These weren't just chores; they were my first lessons in caring for the delicate balance of our environment. I learned that true elegance is never forced, it is authentic, seasonal, and deeply connected to the earth. Today, I bring that same soul and storytelling to every flower I touch, creating sensuous, breathtaking designs for memories to treasure.

THE DESIGNER'S EYE
While my heart stayed in the fields, my career initially took me into the polished world of luxury visual design. Even during my university years, I was honing my craft, successfully selling my work to a ceramics company while studying for my degree. With a 1st Class Honours in Surface Pattern Design and years spent leading a team to captivate customers at John Lewis, I developed a meticulous eye for scale, texture, and the theatre of a space.
Deep down, I missed the pull of my own creativity. I chose to return to my roots, studying floristry at night school to rediscover the tactile joy of working with my hands. The first wedding I ever designed was for my sister at Chester Zoo, and before I knew it, I was being asked to make flower dreams come true for others too.
In 2013, I chose to marry these two worlds: the refined elegance of high-end design and the raw, emotive beauty of the natural world. This was the beginning of Jacqui O. Today, I blend that professional foundation with the untamed spirit of the land to create arrangements that are both sophisticated and deeply moving.
