A couple enjoys a picnic in a garden, setting a table with fruit and champagne. They're smiling, surrounded by white roses and greenery.

There’s a certain magic that lingers in the quiet corners of the Cheshire countryside. A soft, unhurried charm that speaks volumes of romance, exquisite craftsmanship, and enduring luxury. When a discerning clientele seeks an unforgettable experience, it's often the seamless collaboration of passionate specialists that brings such visions to life. It was within this enchanting embrace, at The Mews, The Home of Bentley – an exclusive country retreat adorned with statement pieces from the Bentley Home Collection, and the only place in the UK where its full splendour can be truly experienced – that a recent collaborative showcase of a luxury picnic beautifully unfolded.

Setting the Scene: An Arrival of Understated Grandeur

The stage was set from the moment our imagined couple, Marco and Farryn, arrived. Their Bentley Bentayga V8 S gliding up the historical drive immediately conveyed the tone. Its Black Sapphire over Sequin Blue paintwork shimmered, reflecting the sun-kissed brickwork and lush greenery. The sophisticated 22-inch directional wheels caught the light with the precision of a tailored cufflink, a quiet announcement of discerning taste.

With the gentle hum of the engine replaced by birdsong and the rustle of leaves, Marco and Farryn stepped out of the duo-tone Beluga and Imperial Blue cabin, a masterpiece crafted by Mulliner. This was the very essence of considered luxury, where the car, the setting, and the moment melded seamlessly into one beautiful scene.

A Scented Welcome: From the first step, florals led the way

Their retreat began with a warm greeting and an exquisite sensory experience, an artful bowl of British-grown florals offered a delicate perfume, meticulously arranged.

“Creating a sense of welcome that stirs emotion — that’s always my starting point,” says Jacqui O. "Nestled within a sculptural bowl, the arrangement overflowed with ruffled Duchess de Nemours peonies from Norfolk, fragrant Cheshire-grown trailing jasmine, fresh mint, and elegant foxgloves. It was a heartfelt ode to the season and to sustainability, crafted with intention and soul, designed to resonate deeply with the couple."

The Heart of the Experience: A Perfectly Styled Picnic

A couple walks hand in hand on grass, smiling at each other. Background includes a red-brick house and lush greenery. Bright and cheerful mood.

Stepping through the arched doors into the sunlit courtyard, Farryn and Marco were instantly drawn to the gardens. Beneath the graceful, cascading branches of an ancient weeping willow, the centerpiece of our collaborative showcase awaited: a luxury countryside picnic, styled to perfection. A low table, draped in layered muslin and vintage lace, was elegantly set for two. Beaded charger plates, exquisitely knotted linen napkins, and handcrafted ceramic floral details added a subtle touch of couture charm. A Bentley picnic blanket, plush scatter cushions, and the newly launched Bentley Home travel picnic set for four completed the scene, creating an atmosphere of effortless indulgence and refined relaxation.

"Our aim was to craft a moment that felt intimate, meaningful, and full of quiet joy," explained Jacqui O "Using ethically grown roses and thoughtful styling, it's about telling a love story through nature, through craft, and through beauty that speaks softly but lingers long.”

At the heart of the setting, a generous grazing platter boasted ripe fruits, artisan cheeses, and savoury biscuits. It was framed by a delicate arc of softly scented roses, personally selected by Jacqui. This curated selection included the exquisite, creamy 'Avalanche', a premium cut rose known for its pristine ivory petals that unfurl into a magnificent, long-lasting bloom, often boasting a subtle green tint at its outer guard petals, giving it a fresh, sophisticated edge.

Complementing this was the highly sought-after, ruffled beauty of 'White O’Hara', a true darling of the luxury floral world. This garden rose is celebrated for its exceptionally high petal count, creating a voluminous, deeply romantic form, and its soft ivory hue, often revealing a whisper of blush at its heart. More importantly, 'White O'Hara' is renowned for its remarkable, rich lavender-like fragrance, a truly intoxicating scent that transports you to a quintessential English country garden.

Completing this ethereal trio were the delicate, cloud-like blooms of 'White Cloud', offering a pure, crisp white, often double-flowered form with a delightfully strong, classic rose fragrance. These fragrant roses, hand-selected not only for their breathtaking purity and form but also for their intoxicating aromas, created a breathtaking natural border. Their presence elevated the visual feast with their subtle perfumes and timeless charm, for a truly immersive and luxurious experience.

Paired with the Bentley Home ‘Hype’ picnic collection—its Murano glass champagne flutes a particular favourite on the day—the moment perfectly captured the spirit of relaxed opulence and British design excellence. This collection seamlessly extends the craftsmanship and discerning eye of Bentley into every aspect of luxury living. It's about curating experiences that are as exquisite as our vehicles, blending functionality with unparalleled elegance and ensuring every detail contributes to a cohesive, luxurious lifestyle.

An Evening of Enchantment

As the couple unwound, cradled by nature, blooms, and each other’s company, they wandered beside the tranquil pond where dragonflies danced and waterlilies bloomed in the stillness of early summer.

Nearby, a summer candlelit table for two awaited, beckoning with its soft glow and exquisite details. Delicate City of York roses in hand-blown glass vases graced the table, their quiet elegance perfectly complemented by slender tapered candles that cast a warm, inviting light Adding a final, refined flourish were the decorative napkin holders, each one handcrafted by Jacqui and adorned with a fresh David Austin rose. These particular roses, chosen for their unparalleled beauty and deep, complex fragrance, emitted a gentle scent of myrrh, an ancient aroma that added a layer of mystical allure to the already magical evening. Every element on this table was curated to create an intimate sanctuary, a place where time slows, and love takes center stage.

On the terrace, a breathtaking floral installation that defied expectation, artfully cascading directly from the Bentley's passenger-side rear seat. This wasn't merely an arrangement; it was a living sculpture, transforming the luxurious vehicle into a dramatic focal point. The blooms seemed to spill forth with effortless grace, to merge automotive grandeur with the delicate beauty of nature, creating a truly magnificent vision for Farryn's unforgettable proposal.

The floral design itself was a harmonious palette of soft ivory, rich cream, and vibrant, lush greens, carefully chosen to complement the Bentley's exquisite finishes and the verdant Cheshire landscape. It featured an abundance of luxurious high-tea and garden roses, hand-selected for their pristine form and intoxicating fragrance, artfully interspersed with the delicate, textured sprays of English hawthorn. This quintessentially British plant added a sophisticated nod to heritage and wild elegance.

The Question, Beautifully Asked

As the evening light softened across the courtyard, Marco led Farryn to the terrace. The Bentley gleamed. The florals were in full, glorious bloom. With nature as their witness and the soft summer light surrounding them, he knelt beside the car and asked the question, Will you marry me?. Her answer was a resounding yes.

Farryn, radiant in her handcrafted ‘Stevie’ gown by the talented Katy Britton from Nantwich, was enveloped in a moment of pure emotion, thoughtfully designed and beautifully real.

A proposal bathed in sunshine. A love story told in flowers. A memory that will last a lifetime.
